Stamford man arrested on gun, drug charges

EDMESTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Ostego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Stamford man after a traffic stop in Edmeston on April 28. Tyler Mitchell, 26, faces numerous gun, drug, and vehicle and traffic violation charges.


  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon defaced for concealment
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlicensed operator
  • Unregistered motor vehicle
  • Improper plates
  • Visibility distorted and broken glass

The sheriff’s office reports that during the traffic stop Mitchell was found to be driving a car with a suspended license and was in violation of multiple vehicle and traffic laws. He was allegedly found to have a modified pistol with the serial number removed.

When arrested, Mitchell allegedly also had methamphetamine and suboxone. He was taken into custody and held in Ostego County Jail pending arraignment.
